Or how do I get the circuit board off the front part.
I put a 99 radio in my 07 but it has some lights out for a few buttons. This radio I think was in a pretty violent wreck as I had to swap out the CD mechanism with my old radio. I have been playing with the old radio front panel and for the life of me, can't get the circuit board off the front face. The center knob is holding it and I have no idea how to dismount the knob so the board will come off. It could be bulbs or LEDs in there but I need to get the @!$#&@ thing apart to see what the next step is. The lights have always been out but I just added steering wheel controls and they don't work, sooo, any ideas? |

I can't post urls yet but paste this into your browser saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196810
I posted (post #5) some pictures of the circuit board in that thread. Perhaps you can look at those first before you decide it's worth taking apart. I think it would be very hard to replace the leds (i think that's what they are). You said you replaced your 07 radio with a 99? I'll assume that was supposed to say 09. Have you been able to separate the face plate (plastic interface with buttons and the circuit board) from the rest of the radio? That's held in with 2 screws on each side and 2 clips on both the top and bottom of the faceplate. After that you can unplug the radio. The 2 plugs are beneath the volume wheel and are visible in my pictures. To remove the circuit board from face plate I believe there are 11 numbered screws. Just remove them and if memory serves correctly it should pop right out. |

Yes, I meant to say 2009 with the USB Port. Thank you for the photos. I see that the knob is not removed to pull the circuit board. I wonder why my board is stuck to the faceplate? I do have all the screws out.

got the board out and now I wonder if anyone knows if there is a source for a new board 2009 Radio model # 25968660 or if they just replace the whole unit.

Thanks BaristAura
I understand what you're saying, but I would have to get a faceplate from a 09 radio or loose the usb port. I think that means picking up another 09. At about $150 + shipping. Or put the original radio back in. which I did by the way, to check my install of the steering wheel radio controls. No joy. Next step will be to pull the harness and check it for continuity. Cruse works however. Does anyone know if any of these cars came without the plug & play capability for steering wheel radio controls? |

You may have to just get another radio.
If you don't mind a different back light color, get one, or the part, from a Malibu. There's much more stock out there than for the Aura.

Pioneer makes a head unit for about $130-140 that you could replace it with. I think you have to add another adapter that will allow your steering wheel controls to work as well.
Search Amazon for Pioneer-FH-X700BT |

My steering wheel controls don't work now and it's making me crazy! Don't know why. Wont work with the 09 or the original 07 radio. Harness is good, all plugged in proper, cruse works. Why? Why? Why??? Don't really want to do aftermarket, don't want blue lights. May just have to live with what I have, burned out lights & steering wheel controls that are just cosmetic.
