2002 L200 security light on and hard start

So I go out to my car today to start it and its turning over but very slowly and finally started then the security light came on and stayed on. I shut the car off and pulled the key out and put it back and the car started no security light. I get to the store shut the car off and when I came back out it was hard to start the security light came on but went right off. What is the issue?

This is a mixed bag of possible security problems but nothing major, yet. The only thing wrong is the security light staying ON after the engine is started and running; this means the factory Passlock theft deterrent system has detected an internal failure and disabled itself while alerting you that its broken by leaving the security indicator ON while the engine runs. Usually this means a trip to GM but it resets itself the next time the ignition switch is turned to the START position with the engine starting and security staying off - the normal start up procedure. This may be electronics and may not.

How old is the battery and when was it checked the last time? Battery, battery cables, and alternator issues can cause strange issues if not checked every now and then. Don't allow corrosion to build up on the battery terminals.
