Question sc1 2001 fair price??

what do you guys think a fair price for a saturn sc1 2001 90k miles would be

car has ac cd changer power windows and doesn't appear to have had any work done on it other than a belt tensioner and new brakes on the front

also recent tires

(that would leave alot of future issues that start up around this age i am guessing, like radiator failure, waterpump, maybe ac etc. but my experience is with earlier saturns..this is a 2001 and i hear they were less troublesome)

they are asking 3500..what do you guys think? tia,

I would give them like 2500 maybe

why?

Sohc motor -1
Sunroof is Broken -1
Seems like a lot of maintenances for a s-car. I have never had A single issue with anything out of an s-car until it starts getting closer to 160000 miles. so -1

Saturns are cheap cars.... I wouldn't pay more than 4000 for a saturn with low miles maintenance records and a single nonsmoking owner. By records I mean stuff like oilchange records, the last receipt for the tires. and other stuff like that.

VTEC All of the lag but none of the boost. Its basically like waiting to have really bad sex.

Yes SOHC sucks
So far as I can tell the car ONLY NEEDS the sunroof repair. None of the other things I listed are needed presently but with 90K on the Odo I am guessing they'll come along sooner rather than later. But if you have seen 160k then thats alot better than the earliest ones. Most of my experience is with sl/sc series pre 96. By 2001 quality control may have been vastly improved.

Given all that do you still think 2500 is right? thats where i was leaning anyways? Thanks again

What about the intake gasket. Has it been replaced? I would prefer to know it had been replaced already since they are trouble prone.

On a 2001, I'd say it's about due for an intake gasket. It seems to be more time related than miles.

at what point did this gasket thing become a problem?

i have direct experience with a few 92's (sl1/sl2) and some friends have 96's (sl2's) and no one experienced this gasket issue...

is this a later year prduction problem?
