Default home-made cold air intake?

Has anyone tried to build their own cold air intake. I have a short ram air right now and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on simply extending that tube in some fashion down into the wheel well.. ?
Or is it worth it to pay the money for an AEM? THANKS ALL

pay the money for an AEM and get it from SPS. that way aem will keep making them for saturn cars and sps will stay in business.

too much plumbing, and running it across the front of the engine bay, especially that close to the rad, is going to nullify any added cooling your going to achieve. You'd be better off just leaving the cone filter in the position of stock the air box, so that it's getting air up through the original snorkle. but take some sheet metal and bend it/cut it /paint it/add some weather striping around the top of it, so that when the hood is closed, the filter is isolated from the rest of the engine bay.
