Default painting the interior

Alright...i did look a lil on the site, didt really see any helpful stuff. I want to repaint my interior, and have heard to use that fusion stuff, and of others. Any ideas on what to use, and also a good clear coat...ALso, any tips for doing this would be great. So ya know, Im gonna go with a red color, and prolly sand the plastic for a smooth look. I havnt decided witch parts are getting painted, but hopefully it work out, I may put a photo shop pic up to test run the colors and such...thnx....

I don't know if this is helpful but I just removed the interior pieces that I wanted to be painted and had a local body shop paint them. They actually used some kind of chemical to remove the texture from the panels and then painted them with the same basecoat / clearcoat as the exterior panels. I have some pics (it's my previous ride, the Green '01 SC2) in my gallery of the results and it only cost me $100. It really is worth the effort so good luck with your customization!

Here's a direct link to one of the pics in my gallery... it's dark green so it's difficult to photograph, but anyway...

just a warning about painting the top part of your dash. i dont know if you plan to or not, but ive seen a few cars with it painted. if you are going to, dont use any color that reflects light well and dont use a high gloss. the glare on your windsheild will be terrible. i got in a car that had a white dash onece. you couldnt even see because the glare was so bad. just something to take into consideration.

ya, didnt think of that. I will prolly just do the dash below that top part, and the handles and such.

stupid story. a friend of mine was painting her interior(91 300z) about two months ago, her boyfriend was helping and said she should spray paint the cloth on the door panels too. needless to say it didn't work well. i don't know who was the bigger fool, him or her for listening to him.

Thanks... I understand the pride of doing it yourself but I knew I would make a mess of it, so it was worth the money to have it professionally done. Yeah, the only part I had painted is the dash face... I was going for a subtle look rather than the tuner look you seem to be working to accomplish. Again, good luck with the project and keep us updated with pics!
