Default Question RE: Belt smoking

Hi all
I have been having a little belt squeal for about a week now (belt replaced 4 months ago) and today when I went to leave the store, my battery light came on, smoke started coming from the area with all the pulleys, and my car tried to die. I kiled it and looked and didn't see any fluids. It almost looked like the smoke was coming from the generator pulley... If that's the case what all do I need to replace? I'm assuming a pulley isn't spinning freely and the belt is heating up badly while the car is trying to run. But I really have no idea. IT's kind of a tight spot and harder to see into

Pull the belt off and spin each pulley by hand. One of them is binding. Its not normal for a belt to squeal. (and belt dressing is snake oil trying to cover up a problem).

Sounds like the alternator seized up.
...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

I have no idea why that didn't occur to me I'll pull the alternator and take it in to get tested as well
