Default Saturn ion wheel bearing problem

does anyone know what is wrong with my Saturn Ion 2003 when I hear a noise like an airplane, sort of like ...my garage is telling me that it is the front wheel bearing

The airplane sounds will soon be replaced by a grinding sound right before the seperates or seizes. I'd replace it before that happens.
