Default wheel speed sensor

Has anyone had issues with wire chafing of the wheel speed sensors? I have a 2008, 3.8 liter AWD and I have had three of the four speed senors repaired due to chafing of the wire. No need to replace, they just repaired the wire, all under warranty. I am going to get underneath the vehicle tomorrow and try to see where the damage occurs and maybe reroute the fourth one to a place where it does not get worn through.

Default Re: wheel speed sensor

I had the same thing happen to my LF wheel I believe.. The wire chafes against the control arm, and there really is no better way to route it, the way they have the sensor positioned on the wheel. The dealer repaired mine under warranty and put some kind of heavy plastic sleeve over the wires on both front wheels, which has held up for over 50k miles now.. but you can see where it still chafes against the metal, it's nice and shiny..
I haven't had any problems with the rear wheels, I would assume since they don't turn (side to side). That's a bit odd that one of your rear wheels was chafing the wire as well.
I would recommend putting some kind of heat shrink, or at least electrical tape on yours if the dealer didn't when they repaired it the first time.. then at least when that wears down it's an easy fix.. just add more tape.
Hope this helps
