I have a first gen. As all first gen owners know, the headlights suck and there is nothing aftermarket available.
I do not have access to any second gens. Those that own one of each, can you look and see how closely in size and shape the second gen headlights are to the first? I know shape-wise they are slightly different. I'm thinking if the second gen headlights would physically fit size-wise, some custom fabbing could be done to mount them and possibly make a bezel around them to "mold" them to the first-gen holes.

If you find some, plan on extending at least the turn signal wires. 1st gen stupidly puts them in the middle of the car, 2nd gen is on the outside.I doubt the stock harness will allow the turn signal to be moved that far without help.
I don't have a spare 1st gen headlight (that's useful to you) to compare to my SW2 but from memory the 2nd gen lights are about ~2" wider and 1" lower in height then first gen. 3rd gen lights are the same overall size and use the same mounting style as 2nd gen, they're just shaped and colored a bit different. Plenty of aftermarket headlight options for '91-'96 SC2's... ![]() |

It's possible, but not practical--it would take a tremendous amount of work to make it look half-decent. (I thought about this, but gave up after "test fitting" it in a junk yard.)

But if the 2nd gen lights are over an inch wider, than that means modifying the body of the car and I'm not willing to do that. Thanks for your input guys, answered my question.

I'd love to put HID projectors in mine, but indeed it's a lot of work. That's why I was considering using second gen housings.

so its too much work to remove the fluting but you think it would be less in "fab" in a completely different style and shaped headlight.
