So as everyone mostly knows,
Ive been looking to either swap in a DOHC engine to my car, or sell my car and buy a SC2. Personally, I'd rather keep my SC1 and make a SC1.5. So I called up every single auto wrecker in the phone book remotely close to me, and I found one that can order me a 95' DOHC engine for $600 CDN. I was wondering, if I were to do a swap and use this engine, is there anything other than the intake manifold, fuel rail and wiring harness i would need special to do this swap?

You dont need the wiring harness. Just the engine, transmission, instrument cluster, exhaust manifold/down pipe and PCM.

Technically though, I can keep the SOHC tranny right?
The SOHC tranny has taller gears, which is the main difference? So in order to get the engine in there and running all i really need is: - DOHC Engine - PCM - Exhaust Manifold/Downpipe Do I need a DOHC intake manifold?

You you have an auto or manual? If it were me, and money was tight, I'd get what I could afford now and get the rest later.

I have a manual SC1.
Money is fairly tight and most likely will continue to be until im done college. I think im gonna get little bits at a time like you said. What is the bar minimum that I would need to get the swap done? Is there a guide on how to swap out engines, here on the forum?

Heres what we wrote up when we did the SOHC to DOHC swap in my SW1.
http://www.differentracing.com/tech_...dohc_swap.html There a few things you wont need to do since you have a 1995.

I just found a 1992 SC2 for sale for $300, the engine has 175,000kms on it.
Is it possible to swap a '92 DOHC to a '95 SC1? It would be great if I could, because this guy also has power windows and locks, so i would also just rip off his doors and put them on my car, and just change the panels.

You could pit a 1993+ crank into the motor.

Its not something I'd recommend if you havent opened up an engine before. I also wouldnt use a used one unless you have the journals resurfaced and get matching bearings.
I'd keep looking for a newer parts car.

So it looks like I have now found someone about 3 hours away form me, who has some parts for sale.
1) being a 1994 DOHC (which he says has a "port and polished flowed matched head" and JE pistons with high compression), you think this guy it telling the truth? 2) leather seats, I have been looking everywhere for leather seats! So will a 1994 DOHC work any better?

BTW, a '92 would be an SC not an SC2. There was no SC1 in the early years so they didn't add the number until the SOHC was introduced to the couples. Lots of DMVs, used car lots and even blue books have it wrong. It only bites you when you use some thing that has it right and it can't find parts for a '92 SC2! |

2) I would drive up there from Wisconsin to get those leather seats! The only thing you will need to make a '94 DOHC look like a '95 DOHC is an adapter plat to mount the electric EGR onto the port that was made for the vacuum EGR. Lowsaturn is the man with that part as they were only used on '94 Saturns sold in California. My '95 SL2 currently has a '93 DOHC with one of those adapters, along with the intake and exhaust manifolds from the original DOHC engine. In your case, you would still need a DOHC PCM and intake manifold. The exhaust manifold from his '94 is the same as a '95. |

The guy who is selling it is a hack. Like, seriously, he cut the stock springs to make the ride lower. How cheap is that. Take a look, heres the link to the 92 SC http://barrie.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehic...QAdIdZ35326739

It looks like the guy with the JE piston DOHC, is selling everything for $600 OBO.
That includes the leather seats and DOHC tranny! It looks like im gonna be doing that. So for $600, I can completely redo my cars interior (leather chairs) and my engine (DOHC). Im just trying to figure out how to get a engine and tranny here, from 3 hours away. Anyone have any experience with delivery of an engine?
