Hello im new to this site. and im sure this has been covered before already but as I was looking i seen like 1400 threads. so ill just start over....
I have a 2002 Saturn SC1 that has a Misfire that comes and it goes. I dont understand it. When I have the Code Read it comes back Cyl 2 misfire. But its really werid. It happens for a while then it stops and I can drive the car for about 500 miles then it will just start up again. So far I have replaced the Intake Manifold gasktet (used to be a cyl 1 misfire) that fixed that problem. Then the Catt out so it has a bran new catt. it has new spark plugs and wires. the coils dont look bad at all either. im totally lost can anyone help. ![]() |

Welcome to the forums!
Here is a cheap test that should help solve your spark issue: You can try switching the coils between each other and then if you have spark issues with the new plug it is connected to you will know if it is the coil that is bad. On the other hand, if you are still managing to get a misfire on the 2nd cylinder with the coils switched you can look at getting a new ignition control module. I would test it that way first that way you save some $$$ by not having to replace parts that still work. ![]()

How do you get the coils off to switch them around?

There are a couple 8mm bolts in each coil. Unbolt them and they'll unplug from the ignition module.

There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action. |

What kind of plugs are you running. Use the NGK non platinums. Also while you have module and coil packs off your Auto Zone should have cables to test the module just be careful pluggin in easy to bend a pin or 2
