When do the 09's hit the showroom floor? Are there any major changes besides the DI engine?

I'll mention a few. We have about 20 2009 Outlooks so far. The XR now comes standard with leather, Bose systen now used in Advanced Audio package, Ocean Mist is out and Silver Moss is in, Spare tire is now optional (inflater kit with compressor is standard).

Optional spare? That's scraping the bottom of the barrel. Then again, if you lose over 12 billion in one quarter something's gotta give. So what's next? Optional glass? steering wheel? I don't think I would consider buying a car that didn't have a spare It makes you wonder where else they tried to save money.

Default Re: 2009 Outlook

We just received our 1st '09 Outlook XR here on the Seacoast & here are a couple of pics showing some of the new changes...

1) The rear fascia now has a cleaner look with the dual exhausts. No more chrome tips unless you go with the Touring package. I personally prefer this look to the chrome tips.

2) The fabled rear center console is finally available! It opens like a Swiss Army Knife, forward & backwards and even opens to a tray table of sorts for the kidos to snack from.

3) The backup camera is now included in the Convenience Package & the display is now integrated into the rearview mirror. Very cool...

4) The Bluetooth control buttons for the phone have been included in the steering wheel controls.

As we get our 1st look at more new features, I'll post more.

It does look that way in the pic, but it was just the reflection from the flash... the reflectors are still red.

So the Chevy Traverse will be the only variant of Lambda that has its rear license plate holder located in the bumper rather than the liftgate?

They'll probably give you the 'donut' tire as opposed to a conventional spare.

no spare is getting much more common. many gm cars dont have one including the sky and some auras. you get a can of fix a flat or something which is fine if you get a normal flat, which is unlikly to happen anymore with tpms, but wont do anything if you wreck a tire.

Ala the SKY. GM could save a lot of money if they eliminated spares across the board. They're most likey doing one model at a time not to have a media or buyer backlash...

I like my almost full size donut tire.

i feel more comfortable when traveling to have something to put on if i get a flat even if it is a spacesaver spare. but the suvs and the outlook may have spares but they are pretty much unusable. to get them out of the car you break the tire carrier and have to replace it. (see owners manuals) its a one time hoist since around 2002.

Nevermind I just the rear pic's. I wonder why they did that instead of the chrome tip dual exhaust? Maybe it was cost cutting.

So has the pricing for these 09's been released? I can't find anything, but if they are already hitting dealers, there must be some type of price sheet around?

anyone?

We received a 2008 XR & a 2009 XR within a few weeks of each other...

If you compare the base price only, it does look like the 2009 is $2170 more $$$ However, remeber that Premium Trim is now standard on the '09 XR vs $1275 on the '08. That leaves $895 for the '09 which now includes the SIDI engine as well as the Bluetooth connectivity.

Also, on the spare tire delete... I wouldn't expect to actually find many on the Saturn lots. When we order them from the factory, we have to select the option to delete the spare like 3 times! It's like a Windows confirmation box... "Are you sure? Are you really sure? Are you really, really sure?"

We plan on ordering all XEs (the spare is still standard on the XR unless you get the Touring Package) with the spare. Who wants to take a chance that you would not be able to sell that vehicle to a potential customer because they don't trust the inflator system!

Heck... it is hard enough convincing you all to trust the Oil Life Monitoring System!

Thanks for the clarifcation on the spare tire Shawn. I hope most dealers order it, it's a safety feature for God's sake! Any idea if the price went up for the XE FWD? Any changes to that model?
