Default TAAT shift solenoid compatibility

My valve body cover seems to be leaking slowly so I will be replacing the gasket soon. Just in case, I purchased a couple of good solenoids. The part # on them is 21003289. Reading one of the TSBs, I noticed that P/N 21003289 was discontinued mid-1999 and replaced with P/N 21003344. Unfortunately, my '99 SL2 is AFTER the VIN break.

Question:
Will I have problems if I use P/N 21003289 solenoids to replace any bad P/N 21003344 solenoids that might currently be in there? Is it absolutely necessary to use P/N 21003344 solenoids with this trans?

They will work fine if good.

I'll say no. I just put a 21003344 in my '95 and it works fine, so I'd say they are compatible.

Okay, thank you both.

The resistance measured 4.5 ohms for each. Is there another way I can test them? Can I supply 12 volts to the leads to make sure they actuate or is that the wrong voltage?

Couldn't hurt to do that.
