Default Re: 2006 Vue Cloth to Leather Seat Swap Questions

My next step is to get the now-clean leather back seat covers off the old dented seat cushions, and put them on the original back seat.

I figured out the bolts on the bottom of the seat need to come out, and now I have 3 separate seat cushions, the bottom, left side, and right side. What I haven't figured out is how to remove the black cord thingies on the back of the back seats that are anchored to the particle board, so I can peel the seat cover off. (I assume the headrest guides come off the same way they did on the front seats)

Are you talking about the black clip things on the back of the seats?

I figured out how to remove the black cord thingies on the back of the back seats.

The black pivot pin holding them down is made of two pieces, a center that looks like a plastic nail head, and an outer, which looks like a washer under the nail head. You must get under the center and on top of the washer, and pry up on the center. The center will come up part way, which releases the outward pressure on the outer, enabling it to be easily pulled out. I used a flat Stanley nail remover pry bar to get under the head. They came right out without messing up either of the pins in any way.

I thought about it but I didn't want to. It's not that they aren't nice, but a big advantage of leather seats is ease of cleanup and the Red Lines are velour in the areas where you sit and back. On each side of that is leather, and the sides are pleather. I tracked one down with regular leather seats. They are all gray but I think the sides are pleather too but no velour.

I actually have two 2006 Saturn Vues, both red, and one a Red Line. The Red Line is very nice with the thick, black, highly durable carpet and the seats are very nice on that too and the velour must wear very well and not prone to wear or staining and is very nice too. They also don't show the dirt because they are black. You would be happy with either.

When I bought my house, I didn't realize I was moving into a neighborhood where guys I went to school with lived across the street and around me until after I bought it. Bad move. I had gone to the academy and flew military and then the guard so sometimes I could fly around the house for the kids in the neighborhood. (I couldn't get away with that now). I had red Mustang GTs or Cobras all the time and then I bought my first 2006 Vue, red. Then she liked it and I was just looking for a Vue an came across Red Line that happened to be red. Bad move. Now they refer to me as the Red Baron. When you move into a neighborhood with kids you went to school with, they take seriously their their solemn duty to keep you humble.

PS: You will need to run a wire through the firewall that is the gauge that they use for a 30A breaker, but do yourself a favor and use a larger wire because with 30A you can run an inverter for 120VAC is you want to. Regular size wires are not enough because because inverters are sensitive to voltage drop while seat motors are not. If you do that, you can splice off that with a plug. I don't know if you know this or not, but there is a pretty big space under the cup holder in our center console. I bought an inverter that stores down in there nicely. I then have a high-amp cigar lighter plug that I can plug it into. This also enables me to use it in other cars, but you won't get many watts out of it on a regular cigar lighter circuit with standard wiring, but it will work especially if the voltage is up as with the engine running.
