Default Transmission cooler line - broken disconnect

94 SC2 Upper automatic transmission line cracked and replacement came in today. When trying to remove the line from the transmission with the quick disconnect, I wasn't able to get it off. I read that it ranges from simple to requiring pliers to squeeze, but I think the AD is broken. It swivels easily while the other line's is pretty firmly fixed in place.

So, if the plastic disconnect is broken, how can I remove the line? And can I buy another clip? The replacement line didn't include one. Thanks

The quick-disconnect just holds/locks it in place. So if has broken somehow, then there's nothing holding the line in there except rust/corrosion. Spray some PB Blaster in the connector and try twisting the line back and forth. Continue this until it becomes loose enough to pull out.

If the connector is that rusted, I recommend a new one. They will come with a quick-disconnect. Below is a link:

Auto parts stores do have replacement quick-disconnects. They are usually made by Dorman, however, they are not as good of quality as the originals.

Thanks for the part link. I realized I have something else entirely happening in their. It looks like a previous owner or mechanic made some mods. The reason the disconnect wasn't working is that it wasn't even engaged. The cooling line was swaged at the end with a compression fitting. No wonder I couldn't figure out how the plastic QD was supposed to work. Looks like I'm going to be crawling the junkyard tomorrow or waiting for another RockAuto shipment to take this back to stock. Thanks again.

Compression fitting on the trans end?! How is that even possible?!

But hey, I've seen some strange things that people have done...both on this site and on the Saturns I've owned.
