Default What's an average clutch life ?

Car has 79000 miles. I have it listed for sale and got a call from a guy that claimed it would need a clutch soon. Clutch feels good with no slip.
The old VW bug test used to be to nail the throttle in a higher gear at slow speeds to check for slip,it passes that test.
I don't think the previous original owner abused it.

300,000+ miles. saturn put a good clutch in ions. plus, they self adjust, so there is virtually no way you can tell a clutch is going in advance, at least in theory. it would be really hard to make an ion clutch go inside 79000 miles with a stock (or even mildly modded, like mine) engine, unless you really didn't know what you were doing.

trifecta dealer for the U.P. and WI. There is no two door ion. Proudly driving one of the last saturns produced before gm killed the brand.

you're welcome, but you really don't need to quote the post immediately preceding yours.

That's like asking how long will my tires last? Depends on how one drives. Treat a clutch like a racer and it will last accordingly, treat it like a well tuned, well engineered, swiss watch and baby it and it might outlast the engine.
