2002 SL1
Default 2002 sl1 code P0733

Hi everyone:

As a further update on my tanny issues for the 2002 sl1. I finally got the Saturn to a mechanic who I feel I can trust to work on the tranny. He got an error code P0733...3rd gear issue.

He agrees with everyone on the board here that says replace valve body and input/output ISN nuts.

So, placed an order for a valve body from Special Forces. I'll do a search here for other threads about P0733, just to learn more.

If you've had experiences with P0733, would appreciate hearing how you dealt with it.

Can't wait to get this behind me, so my wife can start driving her X-mas present.

Thanks to all who share as it's really helped me with my tranny issues.

2002 SL1
Default Re: 2002 sl1 code P0733

Just a little more info on the car. Automatic, 2002 sl2 with 62,000 miles. Judging from belts, parts ect...seems like car has been well-cared for. No ses light or any other indicators of problems when car is running.

Getting slams in reverse and lower gears. Don't see any difference in rpms.

Tried reverse slam with seafoam. Didn't help. But when temp needle got up to half-way, the fan came on and cooled things down. This makes me think the ects is okay.

Let me know if there is any other info I should add.

thanks again and hope none of you experience this.

You need both new nuts and the gasket.

Here are a couple of transmission threads.
