Where to find rebuilt engines?
I have a 99 SL2, 160K miles, and I've had a bad ring for awhile now, and it's burning more and more smoke now. Did the compression test, and I don't remember the number, but it was below 100.
Instead of just getting the piston fixed, I was thinking of finding a rebuilt engine, since I heard it may be about the same amount. Does anyone know where I can find one? I've tried looking online, but haven't found any that are less than $2500. |

If your willing to wait, I'm pulling my engine with 133,000mi and planning on rebuilding it and selling it. Weigh your options as mine will not have a warranty but I will beat any price your going to find.. I'm only looking to recover the cost to rebuild a donor engine I purchased.. let me know. It will be rebuilt with new rings, pistons, and I have 2 heads to choose to rebuild as well. Everything will be mic'd out by a certified engine shop. will also have new gaskets and seals throughout. It may take a month but if your interested, let me know.

I dont know if you have an advance auto parts around you or not, but I know they sell rebuilt engines. They run about $2500 or so.
