My 2000 LW300 (60,000 k) has developed an oil leak. The oil seems to be dripping in the area of the long bolts on the oil pan close to the flywheel. I have been told it may be the rear main seal. A local Saturn mechanic says rear main seal leaks are common (he says he has two L series 3.0 in the shop now each with a rear main seal leak...this was a telephone conversation he
has not looked at my car). One of the forum members says he has never heard of this particular engine having rear main seal leaks. I would appreciate any information or experience anyone has had with this problem... or any other ideas as to the source of this leak. |
