Default Brand new ball joints have play

Replaced both control arms on my 01 sc1 less than 50 miles driven and both ball joints have enough play you can feel it wiggling the wheel. Ball joint nuts are tight. Bought these at oreillys they were the precision brand. Quality just keeps getting worse and worse. Plan for Sunday is to redo them and hopefully get a better set. At least this time the control arm bolt will come out easily.

Do the ball joints have holes for grease fittings? Maybe they didn't come pre-greased & are already wearing from metal on metal contact?

Another thing, are you sure it's the ball joint causing the wiggling in the wheel?
If it's side to side it could be the tie rods or tie rod ends. If it doesn't matter where you grab the wheel & you feel play it could be a bad wheel bearing.

Yes I am sure you can wiggle the wheel and watch the joint move. They didnít come with zerk fitting but had the holes for them so I installed zerk fittings and greased them when I installed them. Considering they didnít come with the zerk fittings or cotter pins Iím going to assume their quality control is just pretty awful.

I bought a front engine cradle/subframe from a local yard
that got it from a 'southern yard'; it had TRW control arms.
BOTH were shot ... dry & corroded, causing play in joint.

I have a couple new (from Taiwan) TRW control arms.
I intend to inject plenty of grease into them before installation.

In 21st century, ball joints are not bleeding edge tech....

I checked out my new TRW control arms:

Little--NO grease.
I used a needle type attachment to inject several pumps of grease
into the ball joints....
