Default Window Track - 2000 SW2

As some of you know, the window up/down assembly on these vehicles tends to come off the track which renders up/down window functions inoperable. The reason for this is mainly due to a POS plastic clip that glides on the track but that also holds the 'ball' part of the up/down assembly in place on the window track. These plastic clips tend to break which causes the ball to pop out of the plastic clip which causes the up/down assembly to come off the track. I just fixed mine in about 20 minutes using a hitch pin clip from home depot. The link below shows 3/4 but I used 5/16. A total of .56 cents and 20 minutes time. I believe GM sells the plastic clips for about $20 and the near certainty that the plastic clip will break in the future. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.

My 2 rear windows were off track since I bought the SW2 2.5 years ago.
They would slip down a few inches and had to be shoved up for them to 'stay' for a while. Using the down/up buttons would never bring them back up.
My kids got in the habit of shoving them down to gain access to the locked car.

Now, just today, without looking, I depressed the left rear window down button instead of the drivers's one....the window went down a ways.
I pressed UP and it returned UP and stayed tight.

Weird.

I now remember that it has been about a month or more that these 2 windows have not needed to be manually pushed up.
Must have gotten back on track, tho I have not ever opened the read door panels to check what was wrong.

I will keep your pin idea in mind for a permanent repair.

Can you please post a pic on how this works? Gret idea. I remember doing this repair on past Cadillac Fleetwood's I owned. I would use a c-clamp to pop them in.

Best that I can do considering tight quarters.
