Hi guys i am relativity new to saturns. I have only owned mine for about 6 months and have been racing it at a local circle track. I have been fighting a camber issue on my 97 Saturn sl1 enduro car. Had accident last event where i bent the drivers side strut and tie rod and lower control arm. I went out and replaced all the components on both sides! using a set of kyb struts which i noticed where about a 3/4 of inch longer than stock ones. After i got done with the repair i noticed i still have alot of negative camber on my drivers front still and my passenger side gained about 2 degrees in negative camber as well. I have tried to adjust it out on the drivers side with camber bolts but even with 3 degrees of adjustment im still in the negative camber! Is it due to length of the strut? Thank you guys for any information

The combination strut length and the wheel hub bracket may be contributing to higher negative camber. Other than camber bolts for fine tuning, have you considered slotting the upper bracket mounting hole inwards to gain more positive camber?

I'd think a longer strut would cause positive camber if anything. Stock normally when the car is in the air, the struts fully extended, the wheels will be slightly positive, then go slightly negative as the weight of the car compresses the struts down a bit.
That is pretty aggressive negative camber though, take some pictures around the knuckle & lower control arm. |

Found the issue today. I changed the strut back to a stock one i picked up from the junk yard and there was almost no change. I took a closer look at the steering knuckle and found it was damaged. Replaced it and it solved the issue. Thanks guys for the advice. I appreciate it alot. Car is going to be running again on the 23rd. After that i want to dohc swap it during the winter probably will be i need of some more advice on what i need to get to complete the job correctly and not be a hack job.
