Default Radio? iPhone?

On a 2000 Saturn SL sedan..
I have the radio with the CD.
What痴 the best most cost efficient way to get an aux or USB set up so I can play music from my iPhone?

$10-$15 FM transmitter.

Any other adapter starts at the same price as a cheap-new aftermarket radio or cheap-used-good aftermarket radio.

One of the first things I did when I got my car earlier this year was replace the CD with a nice Pioneer media receiver (no CD).

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pioneer-M...Dash/159741980

It's not a high end model, so features are very limited, but it does have bluetooth so you don't have to worry about more wires or finding radio stations for an FM transmitter. It does also have the AUX in should you still want that.

Between that and a new bezel to install it (can find on eBay and Amazon, just look for the ones that comes with the pig tail harness), I got the whole thing done for around $80 total.

You have to be somewhat competent with wiring as you have to wire the new factory pig tail adapter to the Pioneer adapter, but they give you a diagram to show which is which (most are color coded for the new one anyway). Aside from that, you just plug it in and go.

Also, if you're any good mechanical-wise, I would recommend replacing the speakers too, but that means knowing how to remove the door panels and the rear deck speakers are removed from under the carpet rather than through the trunk.

Check out my current SL1!

Cool, thanks for your help man. Would you mind providing me a link for the bezel I値l need? Preferably on Amazon so I can get it through prime.

Really appreciate your help man

Harness https://www.amazon.com/SCOSCHE-GM04B...dp/B0007KK288/
Bezel https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-SN152...dp/B0002J2E5S/
Antenna Adapter https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-Autom...dp/B00009UHJS/

Given the shallow mounting depth the S-Series has all years I'd suggest a Digital Media Receiver rather than a typical CD/DVD/tape capable player. I've liked Pioneer and JVC, fully logical hatred of Dual/Boss/Pyramid and haven't tried Kenwood nor Alpine.

When I first got my saturn I used a cheap bluetooth to FM transmitter got it for around $10 on amazon, worked fine but then ended up replacing the whole head unit with an android radio I got on amazon for around $90 has been a nice upgrade over the normal basic radio, having a backup camera has been really nice.

The unit I bought is no longer for sale, but here some of the specs.
Android 8.0, 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, WIFI, Bluetooth, AUX, USB, MicroSD slot, AM/FM Radio tuner, 7" 1024x600 IPS screen.

You can find newer versions on amazon.

Wow that looks really sharp actually. I think I値l look into something like this. The backup camera will do wonders too. I知 so used to it by now unfortunately lol

Wonder where I can find one that値l fit.
And do I need a bezel for it or whole old unit just comes off and this goes on?

The radio is a little smaller than the opening.
I had bought something like this ->

but it still wasn't wide enough to fill the gap so I made something out of a microwave dinner tray filled the gap & looks decent tbh.

Here is a short clip with it powered up ->

You think something like this will work?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0837...ob_neva_mobile

What else would I need?

That one isn't running android, so you'd be stuck with whatever features it comes with & no updates, less customizable, no built in GPS, the screen is only 800x480 & doesn't say if it's IPS or not, it also doesn't have a AM tuner, only FM if that matters to you at all, no physical volume knob it's getting harder to find ones with physical controls but makes it a lot nicer to do simple things like mute or change the volume while driving since we don't have steering wheel radio controls on the s-series.

It does support mirror link so you could bring up your android phone on the screen but I'd look for a better unit.

You'll also need a connector for the wire harness if you don't want to be hacking up the cars original connector.

This is the one I bought ->

Gotcha. Thanks man, just ordered the harness. I知 sorry to continue to pester you but I truly do appreciate your help. As you stated, the one you have is no longer available. Is there one you see on Amazon or elsewhere that you would get that has similar features to yours? I知 having some trouble finding one.

Appreciate your help and answers as always.

I see a few on amazon but they all seem to cost more currently, I got mine on sale before before everything with COVID started.

This one has a $40 off coupon currently would be $104 then.

https://www.amazon.com/Eincar-Naviga...dp/B07BTY76YQ/
https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Hea...dp/B07YY53877/

This one has 4GB of RAM & more storage built in but cost more.

If you search around you'll see a lot with very similar or the same designs under different brands. If you buy from amazon just make sure you buy one shipped by amazon, that way if something doesn't work they'll replace it or refund you without having to deal with some random seller.
