Interesting... I have the engine rattle noise but am not experiencing any power-loss issues. So I'm not too worried just yet. Should I? I'm at 19k miles. |

I just had mu Astra in today, and the dealer performed this repair under warranty. I originally had a check engine light come on last Sunday, and it went off yesterday, but the codes were still stored.
The car is running much better now. There is no dead spot (hesitation to rev) between 2200 and 4000 rpm, like I had before. The engine revs freely all the way to red line now. |

Has anyone noticed hesitation while idling? as if the alternator was going/car stalling, my car occasionally (maybe once every 2 months) does this. haven't really noticed any issues though, it drops for a split second then comes back up.

Yes, me too. I remember this coming up in a thread, and there are quite a few people that experience the little near stall and recovery every couple of months.

Yes, and more often than I used to. Approach a traffic light, clutch in, and there's a brief stumble that feels as if it's about to stall (but it never does). Can this be related?

My check engine came on today, Onstar says the code is P0011.
I had the same code last March and at that time my dealer replaced the camshaft positioner sensor. The techlink mentioned in the first post says not to replace this, but "Remove the oil filters from the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves". What exactly does this mean? Do they put new oil filters in?

Have the p0014 code. Can anyone help with a pic or description of the location of the camshaft position actuator solenoid oil filters. Is the removal of these oil filters a simple procedure? thanks

They just did that repair and they charged me 62$.its not covered by the powertrain warranty.i will call gm canada to know why its not covered by the 160000 km warranty.its a really easy repair to do.Only remove the two cam actuator and remove the 2 orange screen/filters.torque the bolt to 53 inch/pound or 8 newton-meter.20minutes and you are done.

Did they covered it under the powertrain warranty or the bumper to bumper 3years60000 km?

Will they do this repair without the check engine light/codes? My engine is very rattly and has very uneven power output/acceleration... but the check engine light has never come on.

The code may be set even though you've never seen the CEL light come on. You'll have to either bring it in (taking a chance on paying diagnostic charges in case there are not any codes set) or buy/borrow an OBDC II code reader and see for yourself if there are any codes set.

My CEL had come on and off, for about a month leading up to last week. I also noticed that the car would stumble sometimes on acceleration, and the near stall, upon press the clutch near a dead stop. So last Friday the light had been on for a week, and I got OnStar to give me the code, which was P000A. Brought it in to the local GM dealer yesterday, and the tech did whatever as per the TSB (replaced cam shaft actuator filters or something, I don't have the work order handy). It was done under warranty, I still have the bumper to bumper, but I assume it would be covered under power-train warranty. It runs a lot smoother now, doesn't hesitate when accelerating through 2500 rpms, and doesn't stutter when I disengage the clutch. Fuel mileage "seems" to be a little better as well, but I'll need to give it more time to find that out for sure.
On a side note, the guy tried to sell me on throttle body cleaning. He tried to tell me that there were also codes stored related to that, and that it was required after 30,000kms, and mine had not been done yet. First of all my car only has 26,0000kms on it. $69 plus tax. I said thanks, but no thanks. He tried to tell me that the CEL might come back on as a result of my refusal. Sheesh. Everything at the dealer was a positive experience until they pulled that little stunt. Anything to make a buck I guess, but it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth. This was City Buick in Toronto, BTW.
