Question Buying an SL2, is this a good deal?

I'm currently looking to purcashe a new car, and I've found a dealer who is selling a 2000 SL2 automatic tranny, "power package", and only 31,000 miles, for about 5,900. I was wondering just how good of a deal this is? The car seems to be in good shape, and the low mileage is what has me hooked. I'm a college student that does quite a bit of driving, so I'm looking for something reliable for the next few years. I would appreciate any input on this possible purchase! Thanks in advance!!

That's not too bad, as long as it's loaded & in good shape. You may be able to talk them down some, though. Aim for $5,000, but if you pay a little more than that, no biggie.

Check for evidence it could have been towed behind an RV.

Particularly odd holes in the front bumper or underneath.

With the 06's coming out this car will be six years old. Try to bust the dealer down to the low $4ks.

And always carfax the low mileage creampuffs.

Wow do you really think I could get them down THAT much? at edmunds and KBB 5900 or so seems to be the value, but low 4's? I somehow doubt i'd get it that low. And would 5k be an unreasonable offer or what? I'm just horrible at bargining, what should i say haha.

There are quite a few used saturns around in most areas, especially SLs, so that gives you bargaining power. I'd shop around a bit, see what's availible, decide what you're willing to pay, and hold yourself to it.

Didn't say what area you are in but, I just bought my 2k SL2 (83k mi) for $4400, asking price was $5400 Good deal to me-is in execellant shape, except for a couple of small things. I am happy with deal I made.

Pimpley pockmarks on the hood too = most likely behind an RV. First gen owner of mine towed it behind an RV and the hood looks like a teenagers face. Planning on fixing that situation soon, however.
