Wrench 02 L200 No Brakelights

welp, another problem to add onto the pile,

for a short description: the brake lights don't seem to work when pressing them, but when the headlights/hi beams are on they turn on, but yet again they don't increase in brightness when the brake pedal is pressed. The center high stoplight on the rear glass works when the brake pedal is pressed though.

any sort of diagnosis for this perhaps? hopefully nothing major...

We had a lot of trouble with our tail and brake lights until we figured out the problem. The crappy bulb fixtures are intermittent. I don't recall how I actually fixed them, but I remember I could simply wiggle the bulb and have the lights blink off and ON when they were supposed to ON continuously.

Haven't looked at the lights yet but since the bulbs still work (illuminate), how come they only turn on when the headlights/hibeams are on?

The taillights and the brake light bulbs have two filaments. The taillight portion works and the brake light portion does not.

I see, would changing the bulbs perhaps remedy this then?

If the bulbs are bad, at least you can begin the diagnosis process.

Going to contact a GM Dealer about a recall. Might be right with the bulb sockets as the bulbs still seem to work fine.

Haven't gotten to contacting a dealer yet, but I have purchased bulbs (searching for a pair of sockets). Will get to looking at them sometime this weekend.
