2006 ION 2 Gas cap will not lock/seal…

Ugh! I have just come to realize that a replacement gas/fuel cap that I had gotten from my local Chevy dealership has now come so loose that I cannot get it to seal anymore.

To try to alleviate my concern, I went to AutoZone and got a locking cap that seemed to work; until tonight when I got gas again. Now I c-a-n-n-o-t get the cap to seal for the life of me.

I am in the middle of researching this problem, but nothing seems to fit the exact nature of my problem. At least for what I am seeing at least.

Hoping to see if there are any suggestions out there before I get back into the research.

Edit: The caps I have will insert and click clockwise, but when I turn just the slightest counter, it comes right off as if nothing happened. Grrrr!
