Default 2006 Ion Idles fine dies when driving

OK, my son has a 2006 Ion parked at my house that I start from time to time (he's out of town) to keep it active. Last week I started having the following problem:

When it's cold it starts fine and will idle all day no problems. As soon as I put it in drive and head out on the road I get about 300 meters and it dies. When it dies and I try to start it there is nothing it won't turn over at all, it won't even try, it's just dead. If I wait a while (1/2 hour to an hour), it will start again until I try to drive it and then it dies again.

I've been through this evolution three times now and this morning when it died I left the key alone (didn't turn it off) and every 30 seconds or so the check engine lite goes on and off a few times and there's a simultaneous clicking/clunking noise coming from what I assume is the fuel pump.

I'm confused because it feels like a fuel problem except when it dies and will not turn over at all it makes me think it's a starter or solenoid or something. Could this be the BCM?

Thanks for any help, I'm stuck. I tried posting a video of the dash after it dies but it didn't let me.

1-New members cannot post links until more posts are made so spell out the link as text.

2-What's battery state of charge? If the battery discharges and/or the alternator isn't supplying power to meet car electrical needs while recharging the battery, power may be causing this issue. Standby battery voltage should be around 12.5v. Engine idling should have alternator output around 14.3v.

3-If a reader is connected, it may display the error code(s) when the check engine light turns on.

Ions use computer startup; the ignition switch sends a signal to the ecm and the ecm powers a relay to close contacts for battery voltage, sending battery voltage to the starter.
