Default A/C Recharged, Everything Working Fine

Fiiiinally got the car in to get the A/C recharged today. They ran the vacuum on it and said it was holding steady, so no leaks like I originally thought when I first got the car.

New compressor is running fine and it only bumps my RPM's up to 700 from 650 when running at idle, so not bad at all. I imagine the fan might kick it up a bit more, but I expect that.

Now I just have to wait for it to get really how to see how well it performs. I know it's not an ice box like more modern vehicles, but it'll be nice for those super humid days (especially if it's raining and humid, ugh). It wasn't so bad still running with the windows down in town today, but when I got on my way home, it was even nicer to roll the windows up and not have to blast the music to hear it

It'll be interesting to see what my mileage will be, I've been holding steady around 32MPG, but my last bit of driving I hit just a tad over 34MPG after switching to full synthetic oil. I won't know for sure if it was a fluke or not as it was only the first fill-up since the oil change. It could be anything.

You may be one of a handful not having a leak from wear and tear, ending up with a dead compressor clutch coil. Hopefully your new repair serves you for as long as you drive it. The target of every ac repair is restoring it back to factory condition no matter how old the vehicle.

Yeah, the guy at the shop agreed that it was a better move that I replaced the entire compressor instead of just the clutch (aside from the fact it was only $30 more for the whole thing) because his thinking was like mine, it eliminates any issues with that part of the system. I was so happy when I figured out it was a bad clutch.

He also said if it does happen to leak, bring it back in and they'll look at it
