Default Walnuts in Main HVAC Blower

This might seem strange but I believe a squirrel or chipmonk managed to get some walnuts in there. How can I access that to clean it out?

Thanks

So, do you have noise when the blower runs, or has it stopped turning?

Access the blower by removing the cover which is above passengers feet - behind glove box.

The blower removal instructions are in the attached file. You didn't mention vehicle year so instructions are for 2005 Vue.

You might also want to remove the cover from ventilation input plenum under the hood to see whats stirring around in there. Instructions for this little task will be in owners manual under instructions to replace cabin air filter.

Definitely open the air filter box for inspection and blow out the cold air intake (from the air filter box to the front) with your shop vac on 'blow'. I have seen where rodents chewed up the filter to build a nest in the air box, and who knows what might be in the air tube. Before blowing anything, protect the open end of the intake tube to the throttle body.
Inspect the cowl area closely to see where they are getting into the car. If they have chewed a hole in the plastic screen in the cowl, you'll have to fix it somehow. The two situations are not connected - there's no way to get into the fan by going up the engine air pickup and vice versa. You may be able to remove the cabin air filter and access panel to the blower, then use the vac to blow anything out of the blower housing through the cabin filter housing. A gas or electric leaf blower would be just as good if you don't have a shop vac. It would be cool to see a mummified squirrel shoot out of the cabin filter housing!

Thanks for the info. It's an '03 Vue AWD V6. The Fan does run with alot of noise like there are nuts in the blower. The car sat for about 6 weeks and I have a few walnut trees along the driveway. When I opened the hood I found almost a full wheelbarrow full of nuts on top of the engine!

I'll check out the filter housing.
