What kind of tires did you put on your '08+ Redline when it was time to replace?
After trying to drive my '08 Redline Vue FWD through a couple of inches of snow last weekend, I decided that the Hankook H725 is worthless after 44k miles. Now begins the search. I found a couple of threads here where people were happy with the BFG Radial T/As on the first gen Vue, and those sounded like what I wanted to look at. But those tires do not come in 235/55/18. Out of the 235/55/18 tires available on Tire Rack I am leaning most towards the Yokohama Parada Spec-X. They had favorable review and were rated well. Anyone have experience with these? Most of the roads my wife and I drive on are straight and flat, but my wife also travels frequently on gravel and chip & seal country roads. So I don't want to get a tire that is so soft that it will get devoured on these roads. I also want to be able have some fun on the few occasions that I encounter a enticing curvy two-lane highway. I also want to stay below $170/tire. I am not considering a set of winter tires because I don't have the room to store the out-of season set.

The thread reminds me of the wild asymmetrical thread on my Nitto's...
![]() The next tire I plan on buying will be a premium Michelin tire. Unfortunately they cost about $300 each. Of all the tires I used on my past Saturn's the Yokohama Avid was my favorite. Yokohama is one of the few manufacturers that brass plate the steel wire used on their belts. This prevents corrosion and rust bumps forming inside the tires. This is one of the few real advantages for keeping your tires filled with 100% nitrogen. It keeps the moisture from damaging the belts and your TPMS sensors.

![]() I'm probably gonna go with Michelin Primacy MXM4s next time. Unless I decide to get some 20" wheels cheap with tires mounted already to skip out on install costs. |
