Driver side rear door will not open

Ok I have a 2005 Saturn Vue 2.2L

The door behind the driver side occasionally would not open.

Now it is at the point it will not open at all.

I am stick as what to do to fix this.

Please help.

Step 1) buy a new latch

Step 2) break the old latch.
Ok it's been pretty long time since I've done one so look at

Had difficulty for 2 years getting out. The plastic piece you pull on wears out on the inside. A rod fits onto a plastic piece which rides inside a kidney shaped hole. The hole gets longer from wear. I had local SASP replace both pieces. When pulled on about 3/4 inches opens right up.
