Default Help with License Plate Lights

Hi all-
Stepdaughter's 1996 SL2. One license plate light is out- traced it to three cut wires just before the blue connector near the trunk hinges. I found out which one supplies power to the license plate light. My question is what are the other wires that go to the trunk latch? Do they have something to do with the trunk light?
If anyone has the wiring diagram for the rear trunk lid lights, that would be great.
Thank you,
Ralph

Ok, looks like I answered part of my question- I think the wires to the trunk latch have something to do with the "open trunk" warning light.
However, I still need a little help with the wiring diagram part- three of the wires either broke or pulled out of the connector, so I can't tell which wire goes where.
Thanks
Ralph

that's funny that happened to me too. Plate light wires alternate black, brown, black, brown. Look at the other connector, the wires don't change color or anything. One set of black and brown wires go to left light and the other to right light over the license plate. I have 2 other wires coming out which are no doubt the trunk light switch wires.

Yup, two separate brown wires for the license light positive (they split from the same circuit upstream), two separate black for the ground. So as long as you connect brown to brown, black to black, etc., you're good. Other wires in that connector:
Gray - decklid release motor
Black - Decklid release motor ground
Red/black - cargo lamp switch
Black - ground terminal
