Default 2003 Vue Horn problem

Has anyone experienced this?
2:30 in the morning my Vue's horn starts blaring
(a single long, continuous audio nightmare)
I could get it to stop with constant pressure on the
emblem of the steering wheel, but who wants to sit outside all night
trying not to wake the neighbors?
I managed to drive it (horn blaring) to a well lit gas station and
found the horn fuse under the hood.
Will update when the dealer finds the cause.

You don't mention if this is a recurring problem or a one-time thing. I don't own a Vue but I'll ask this...

Do you have a horn "panic" button on your key fob and did it somehow get pushed accidentally? I realize it was at an odd hour but, then again...

There will be times I'm sitting in my home office area or living room with my keys in my pocket. Suddenly, the horn on my car will start beeping--yes, at odd hours, too--and I realize I've leaned one way or the other and the horn button got pressed up against some change or a seam in my pants pocket.

Pressing the horn button on the key fob stops it.

Sleeping in your pants?
Enjoying your car so much you sleep with the keys?
Cat walking on the counter where you keep your keys?
Kids wandering the house?

These may have NOTHING to do with what really happened. Just some thoughts.

Hey pal, I hope you are sitting down when you read this because you may not like what I am going to say. I feel like I am telling someone that their girlfreind cheated on them. Here is the bad news. Unless your Vue is under warranty, be prepared to shell out around 750.00 to your local retailer to make this repair. The same exact thing has happened to my Vue around 65K and took it to the dealer and they told me that I would have to replace the whole airbag module to remedy this problem. It seems to be a bad connector in my steering wheel. I remedy the problem by replacing the relay but the Vue went a few weeks without doing the blaring again and one time, I was always and it started blowing on its on and I wasn't there to stop push on the steering wheel to stop it and it toasted the horn itself. Luckily now, the horn does not go off any inappropriate places. Once it went off while I was driving down the highway and I could barely get it to stop. I now have around 83,000 miles on my Vue and I am about to break down and have this repair done at the end of the month, when its in the shop for the recall work on the rear end. I really hate going to have to pay 800.00 to make a repair on a horn for a vehicle that is not even worth 7,000.00 in trade at the dealer but its something that I am going to have to do. My Vue is a 2002 AWD V6. What type of Vue do you have?

I have dismantled an airbag that I picked up on ebay with this horn problem and the failure is a poorly designed membrane switch for the horn that is directly under the cover. What happens is the copper clad membrane which is normally flat takes on the shape of the dimples after it has seen some use (the harder you push , the more likely that switch membrane is to dimple and I know how hard it is to find those horn buttons when you need them) I came up with a much nicer design with easy access surface buttons that I liked so much I replaced my original factory airbag (5 minute job). I will download a picture of my horn switches this evening. I still have my perfect condition airbag with good horn if anyone is interested in it.

I'd like to see what you did to the horn buttons. My horn usually works when I mash it, but the horn gets all squaky and rattly a lot of times. It sounds, but it's raspy and sounds like the horn itself might be loose. Sometimes I get a high pitched squeal of a horn, then all the tones kick in and it sounds ok. It's crap. I have told the dealer about it, and of course, they could not duplicate it. I hope it's just the horn and not the buttons on the steering wheel, but I am not ruling that out.

Yeah, you still don't have the gallery link, but I went and took a look. I'm a dumbass, I forgot, they changed the steering wheel from 03 to 04. I have the Caddy wheel. *smax forehead* LOL

Good job though!
