2005 VUE Red Line
Default Center Bezel and Window Controls

Needless to say I have the patience of a 10 year old.. I made an attempt to paint the center bezel and plastic piece this past weekend. It looks like crap and will have to be redone. Sense I am doing "black" I figured it might be easier to find one than re-do this one. In any case I need to confirm how wide my net can be. I have a 2005 Redline somewhere i read that the standard 2005 bezel is black... what other years has this same model.

Also once I find one, if anyone wants the old one and has more patience than I hit me up!

The paint on these centre consoles has been an issue on my 2004 Redline (and others) too. I had mine replaced under warranty.

The 05s should have it in black already I believe. I haven't gotten around to painting mine yet either.

Being that I tried to fix myself I would be surprized if they would actually give me a replacement. I may try it though

Mine is a mess too..all peeled and looks so cheap and really is
frustrating..I know its not a high end car, but I have it really
cleaned up and looks great all the time except for this terrible peeling
center dash, especially around the window buttons, and gauges.
Does anyone know of a manufacturer of a Dash Kit that is subtle..I have seen some
really cheezy looking installs..I mean something in a very mild wood grain,
like the trims on the 07 interiors..or a decent looking brushed aluminum?
for an 05. I would only want to install around the center stack not all
the lil trims around the ac vents etc. Any Ideas? other than painting it? Regards to all..Doc

Update.. So I ended up getting another bezel and piece where the window controls are... guess what, the paint is peeling as well

So now I have two sets. I am going to give it another shot, but now have the extra set. I posted in classified but no bites. One quick question though, need some better suggestions on getting the coating off, the paint thinner method doesn't seem to work well.

I was going to try wetsanding. Think of it this way, you have a test mule you can screw up as badly as you want now.

Did some work last night and got it sanded pretty well. Used some oven cleaner (per another thread) and it actually worked (or at least loosened it a bit..) in any case, I had some wheel paint in silver that I thought I might see what it would look like, so I decided to hit it. Not sure I like the silver but it is almost a dead match to the door handles. If I get a chance I will try to post some pics later...

I know I keep trying to snap a few. I ended up swapping out this weekend the window control came out nice but the bezel is still not to my liking. I will take some either tonight or tomorrow and post. Now if someone will buy the old ones, so I can buy more stuff! I have been on restriction form the wife

The old ones need a little sanding and paint but if anyone is thinking of doing this, better to use this one instead. one quick request though, if anyone happens to have or access to a fog light switch, I could really use it. I ended up breaking mine and the dealer wants 50.00 for replacement! I am tempted to try to get them to replace on warranty, but with the 100.00 deductable not really worth it...

Hot glue that thing back in, they all break. Hot glue works great though.

I wish, when I took it out of the original I pushed to hard on it and fell on the garage floor. Must have caught perfect because the thing broke. I put it back together and thought I had it right, but when I went to press the switch it stayed depressed. I now have to remove the bezel, (again) ... I wouldn't worry about it as I usually just leave it on so fogs run with headlights, but they are not on..

There's a spring inside the switch? That could be a good possibility then. When I dropped it I thought I got all the pieces...Now I just needs some time to take this thing off for the 10th time!
