I put everything back together. I wasn't taking the chance of not having a car for a week. I'll just have to fork-over the 400 to have it done, maybe next season. I've spent too much on it already since last year when I got it.

It sounds to me you were trying to remove the lower intake without taking everything above off first. I detailed how to remove these items a while back. It took me days to do it, weeks to figure out what to fix and weeks to repair it. In the end, I ruptured an intake hose which threw me for a loop. Removing all the intake components is complicated and exhausting. There are bolts in most inaccessible locations and everything origami's together. You are doing the right thing having someone do the work for you. However, be prepared for other repairs to pop up. They will likely recommend cam cover gaskets and other repairs. Be prepared for the onslaught.
