I have a 07 ion sedan. Is it possible to hook up an amp to the stock head unit? If so how do you take it out?

for the amp you just need a 12v line that switches to hot when the car is running. then you can tap into the speaker wire for the signal but you will need to buy a rca line convertor so that is will cut all but the low frequencies out. i went from a 2002 sl1 to a 2007 QC and i don't want to get rid of my 15" sub so this is what i am going to have to do if i still want a system.
