Happy Ion Redline Makes it into Automoblie Magazines 50 Hottest New Cars List!

#12.

"You know the sport compact things has reached critical mass when even Saturn gets involved. But give the touchy-feely division credit for jumping in with both feet, as it has tapped GM's Performance Division to create the comprehensively made-over Ion Redline. The second Redline performance vehicle ( it will follow the milder Vue Redline by a few months), the adrenalized Ion coupe features a supergcharged and intercooled version of GM's Ecotec four that is good for some 200 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. It mates to a new five-speed stick with short throws. Chassis modifications include the obligatory firmer suspension, along with four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, revised electric power steering, and equal legnth half shafts to combat torque steer. Outside are seventeen-inch alloy wheels, a restyled front fascia, and a rear spoiler. ( The bold have a choice of rear wings) Inside, the Redline-specific front seats, steering wheel, and shift knob remind you that you're different from other Saturn drivers."

I just think its pretty cool it made it in their list.

Yeah I saw that. That is really cool. Finally Saturn is getting some good rap. There is to much of the bad rap going around.

I don't know if David E. Davis is gone or not, but it is true that Automobile magazine has never really like Saturns. And in that same issue, I believe, there is an editorial on the back page that has a insulting mention of Saturn. Something about how Hal Riney was able to sell cars (via their early ad campaigns) at a decent clip, even though the Saturn was "an inferior car." Or something to that effect.

Interesting that the RedLine was paired on the page with some hot VW Golf, I believe. Sounds like the Golf is about to be re-done and this last hot VW is to keep sales of a lame duck up. (At least I think that is what the caption said). Something also about this latest hot VW getting above $30K, too.

Yeah youre talking about the R32. Its only the BADDEST Golf ever! (with the exception of the first GTI). It has something like 270+ HP, AWD, and a really nice leather interior. Imagine the mods that will be avaliabe for the R32. Check out my gallery for a bunch of pics.

And then there is the rumour of the Audi A3 (Europe...for now) getting a 350 HP engine. AUdi A3 is basically a gussied up Golf.

So if we, generally, can't stand what the car rags say, if they start liking Saturns, does that mean we can like the car rags again?
