Default Fuel Gauge Stuck on Empty?

Hello. Yesterday when I started my car, the fuel gauge wouldn't move at all and just stayed on the E(Empty). I know for a Fact that the gauge was suppose to be at the quarter mark. I turned the ignition on and off a couple times to see if the gauge would budge to move. It finally did after like 6 attempts. What can cause this problem? This is on the Saturn L200 2003 by the way.

Default Re: Fuel Gauge Stuck on Empty?

Well, unless another member has a solution, I don't have one as it occurred to me the same way on occasions. One day the fuel gauge shows empty and a restart or two will bring the gauge back. As far as I know, the fuel gauge is driven by the bcm encoded in a series of digital signals. I call it an interruption or hiccup somewhere and eventually clears up on its own. The instrument panel gauges are not separate wired signals but combined in a pulse train of digital ones and zeroes through either the canbus wires or the serial comm lines.

Must be a common problem. My LW does the same thing at least once a month. I haven't worried about it to much but it does freak the wife out every so often..LOL
