Question Rear Subframe trailing arm rot.

I have a 1996 Saturn sl2 that failed inspection because of the trailing arm frame rot.

I have some questions about the frame really.

Can the rear frame be removed so that I can try and fix it? If so is there any tutorials out there to that, I couldn't find any.

I have put so much into this car that I would hate to trash it because of rust. I could remove the subframe I think I could fix it, but my neck won't allow me to be under a car for much time, so i thought maybe be removing it and fixing it might be the way to go.

I'm pretty sure the rear is non-removable.

Happy Re: Rear Subframe trailing arm rot.

I just went and jacked it up and looked at it.
This part where the trailing arms connect to does NOT removed. It is part of the unibody.
That being said, it looks like the structural part where the actual trailing arms connect too are good. So that is a win. I can now understand why this rusts out so bad, it is a HORRIABLE design. If I can, I will improved on the structural cover they made. I will try and post pictures soon.

Time to break in the cheap ass mig welder and do a lot of grinding and cleaning.

So the pictures you're looking at is from the driver side and it's the initial on what it looked like when I looked at it and when I punched out what rust was loose just from using my thumb.

Yeah, saw that first one.. mine is not that bad at all..

The actual part where the bolts are seems solid.. so i am going to cut out the bad.. clean up well, paint it.. and replace the plate that goes across the well.
