Default Odd hose came loose

First of all, 2003 VUE AWD. Around 70k miles.

I found a hose hanging down below the engine today. It came out right beside the front, driver's wheel. The end that was dragging has a plastic fitting, one end of which fit into standard 1/2 inch OD rubber hose. I followed it back and it seems to come out of the top os the transaxle. Is this a vent hose? If so, anyone know where the plastic fitting that is now ground flat should go?

Everything is working fine and no trouble codes.
