Default ION rear axle assembly question

I am wondering what the difference between the "softride" and "sport" axle assemblies are and if they are interchangeable.
I have a 2007 ION 2 that needs the axle assembly replaced and I can get the "Sport" version for a lot less money. It has the softride in it now. I will do the work myself, but need to know if I can save a few bucks or not.

Default Re: ION rear axle assembly question

They are 100% compatible, the difference between the axle itself is a thicker, with the package option, you get an axle, springs and shocks out back and struts and a thicker anti sway bar out front. I recommend also getting the springs and shocks to take full advantage of the new axle, I would leave the front anti sway bar alone, though.

trifecta dealer for the U.P. and WI. There is no two door ion. Proudly driving one of the last saturns produced before gm killed the brand.
