I know this isn't the answer you're looking for...thought I'd throw this in:
I read somewhere in the Owner’s Manual or Service Manual that the egr cycles full open to full closed when the driver takes his foot off the gas at speed and in gear. When exiting a freeway at speed, I coast in gear with foot off gas pedal. - In other words, 5th gear engine braking. That's all the attention I've ever given the egr. - besides painting the outside with black Rustoleum. |

All done. Tomorrow the road test. Attached is a picture of my EGR out of my '01 SC2 with 80,000. Notice the pieces of the gasket. Less than $2 at Napa.
Sorry, forgot to take the "after" pics. |

I did mine the other day.
Started it up with the EGR valve removed to blow out any residual carbon. Engine goes right on the rev limiter (4000 rpm in neutral) That got my attention....... ![]() Anybody know why? |

was the egr valve still off the engine when you started it? I just used a vaccum to get the built up carbon out of my engine.

Removing the EGR valve creates both a MASSIVE exhaust leak (which you no doubt heard), and a MASSIVE vacuum leak, which causes extremely high idle.
