Question common oil leak?

I have oil leaking from somewhere behind the cam cover (between it and the firewall), below the oil filler cap -- but it doesn't seem to be coming from the cap. There are wires back there that are all oily; are they for injectors or sensors? Any ideas on what might be leaking back there? Thanks.

Finally got a chance to inspect it today, and I'm amazed at what I saw. The cam cover is pushed out and split open (maybe 3/8") on the end near the PCV valve. I have no idea what could've caused that -- does anyone else? The engine is running fine, BTW.

I guess (hope!) that's not a common occurrence. Bizarre...

Sounds like it either has been replaced at some point improperly or an overpressurization has occured. Ever replace the PCV valve in that car?

BigMac: If you actually mean the cover is damaged, and not just the gasket, I have a replacement cover which I believe is for your year. I picked it up in error, and will part with for few $.
