my 2004 saturn vue 2.2l 5sp has check engine light on and service soon light on. hooked up code reader nothing is shown (No Codes)
So the problems i've having is low cooling fan not working but the high cooling is working. when the a/c is turn on the cooling fan does not come on. rpm will not go over 4000 rpms. when you give it throttle is bogs down some then rpm goes up. The engine has miss fire and its burning rich . the throttle response completely goes away when you push the pedal down nothing happens restart the car still no throttle response. i can put pedal to floor then start it and it will rev up but within seconds no pedal response and goes back to idle all intermittent issues on the throttle response i can get the throttle back after mutiable restarts I've replace the thottle body and the Ignition Control Module so far Also the Pcm vin does not match the vin of the body Last edited by jfgarner4; 07-26-2020 at 08:47 PM. What code reader are you using? The first step is to figure out why you're not reading anything from the ODBII port.. I use this one (blue tooth) and the Torque App on my android phone.
https://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products...dp/B005NLQAHS/ The next question, When did it start doing this? ALSO- Verify the ECM VIN number for the ECM is the same configuration as your car. A ECM thats programmed for a Automatic transmission will not function correctly in a manual transmission car.

It sounds like you're in a LIMP mode. The ECM thinks something is wrong with the automatic transmission. Well, there is, it isn't there... :-)
1) Any idea what vehicle and year the replacement engine came out of? 2) Verify your Vue's original VIN # is a 5 speed manual transmission, not an auto. This will answer the question, is it a factory 5 speed manual, or did someone do a conversion? (Mine is a conversion, so I am very familiar what needs to be done to make it work.) The engine wire bundle is different for a manual vs an auto, the speed sensors are different, located in different places, electrical feeds are different, and communications (ODBII) and cann data lines are different. Its fairly easy to modify the wire bundles from an auto to a manual. The ECMs are physically the same, but the programs are different. An Auto ECM program will not function properly in a manual transmission car. You need to either find a ECM for a manual transmission, OR, have a dealer reprogram your ECM for your VIN (if its a manual transmission VIN. ECMs out of 2002 - 2005 will work. Check eBay, but verify that it came out of a manual transmission vehicle. (My 2003 has a 2005 manual trans ECM in it. My 2003 is a auto to manual conversion) 3) Before spending any time or money, I'd verify these items:
If these three items are good, then it may be worth investing time and money. I just completed repairing my cradle mounts. This is a show stopper, if these mounts are rusted out, the vehicle should not be on the road. I was facing either do an acceptable repair, or abandon and junk the vehicle. http://www.1999southwind.com/toad-20...#ENGINE_CRADLE ..

Try another code reader. The one I use is $20 from Amazon, and I use the paid version of the Torque App on my android.

See if they have the original ECM.. I bet they left it bolted to the engine when they did the swap.

so i got a different code reader
got U0101 Lost Communication with TCM P0233 Throttle/pedal position switch/sensor B circuit high output P0502 Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a different reading of speed between the vehicle speed sensor and the wheel speed sensors p0122 TPS sensor circuit A output voltage go below the sensor's expected range (mostly like cause the throttle body is currently removed) The PCM programmed vin does not match the of the body so the pcm is not the original PCM for the truck The Body VIN is a Manuel The PCM VIN is for An AUTO There is no Rust on the body anywhere she is very clean inside and out So i am going to order a reman pcm from flagship one dot com and they will flash the computer to the correct vin and tranny |

OK.I suspect that will solve most of your problems..
The rust I'm pointing out is the two front engine cradle attach points. Get a price for them to re-flash the ECM you have, should only cost about $50. I think I have a spare ECM, but its flashed with the auto transmission. Its the one that was on my Vue when I bought it. The previous owner of my Vue did the tranny swap, but never got it running. I suspect they reversed the Fuel injection and the throttle body plugs and nuked the ECM. That was the main problem on mine, when I put the correct ECM in it, things started working correctly.

Your GM dealer should be able to re-program it.
