Default ADVICE? - Screwed up door latch installing door speaker

Screwed up door latch installing door speaker.

Basically the rod for using the door handle to open the door is impossible to get back in the lower clip on the plastic part (handle/buttons unit)

Was looking at trying to remove opposite side of door (painted part) and fixing the problem that way.

My father in law will help me tonight. He's had experience with GM doors before. Probably also with two people someone can hold the plastic face for the door while someone else tries to reconnect the rod and clip.

For now I climb out the front door on the passenger side...

Likely anyone who has done speakers or power window motors, etc. has had to work with these rods and clips. Any Advice?????

I wasted 4 hours yesterday. Kind of wishing I just dremeled out the old speaker and installed the decorative grille, but too late.

The outer doorskin is easily removed. You don't need two people and once it's off, it'll be easy to get that rod back in place. Look around for a video from richpin that shows how to do it.

We took video of removing and installing the inner door panel. I wish I knew where it was. I think it took 30 seconds to get the latch off and and 60 seconds to get it back on. Its really not that hard, All you need is a long, thin flat head screwdriver.

Thanks. Kudos to rickpin06 for the great video and other videos on you tube. Wish I had found some of those earlier.

The video shows you how to remove lock cylinder but should also give me the access I need to fix the problem I'm having.
