Default Ne1 interested in a aem cai

tonite up in michigan. two ion 1 sedans raced.
mine with a cai for mods. automatic
my brothers...manual, no mods

raced...he beat me by a carlength from 55-80

im so disheartened...i wanna give up performance and make the ion look good and turn.

so im thinking about selling the intake to get lowering springs and wheels.
anyone interested in buying it.
if so, check out the classifieds section.

is your bro's engine broken in? I've heard from many sources that once the ecotec is broken in, the performance of it is greatly enhanced. Give it some more time d00d

You probably lost because of you automatic I would say. Just remember that an intake is not gonna make up for a soul sucking torque converter. They don't make THAT much power.

Why get an automatic when you want performance? I pity the foo'. Although, you have the upper hand if you go for extreme power. The manual trans can only take 175 lb.-ft. whereas the auto can take over 200.

I'm still deciding on whether or not to get the turbo kit from saturnmotorsports, com, but 4300??? Seems kinda' high. They say it dynos @ 249 hp, BUT is that just the block of actual wheel hp? I e-mailed them, but no response yet. Also, I know the RedLine changes several engine components in the vlock to handle the supercharger... what would the turbo do to my block w/o any changes??? My dealer told me if they install a turbo kit on my car they would honor it under their warranty and not void my original warranty (oh, god where's my can of vaseline for that install price???). Any thoughts???

well if its dynoed...it should be wheel horsepower.
dynojets usually project larger numbers because they dont take into account viscous loss, fluid loss, tranny, heat, etc.

4300 is fair i think. it comes with a complete exhaust system and fuel management + turbo stuff.
a lot better than twistec...but do it yourself will be cheaper.
