Default 98 SC2-Front Passenger seat slider track & seat back often won't latch.

98 SC-2 Front Passenger seat slider track & seat back often won't latch.

When you pivot the seat back forward for someone getting in or out the back seats, then you push the seat back back should lock the back and seat back into the sliding track but it doesn't always work. Then you try slamming it with more force and that doesn't always work either..

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the 2 floor track latches not lining up perfectly.
I've tinkered with it in the past to fix by loosening the floor bolts. Can't say how I fixed it exactly.

Is there a write up on how to bolt the seat tracks to the floor properly so they don't have this problem?
I did a search but didn't see anything.

Thanks

Jim

I wanted to thank you very much for caring and for the reply and give you an update.

I still am just scraping by with all the things I have going on in my world but I did reach down and grab the cross wire under the passenger seat and got the seat latch working again for now.
But it is stubborn and I know it's not adjusted/working correctly yet. I did see the cross wire is intact with the retaining spring ends in correct place.

When I get a chance, I'll remove the seat for a closer look.

Just an FYI:
I have had the seat some years ago when I added carpet foam padding under the OEM foam core, to boost the seat back up like new.
I found you don't need to buy an E10 socket, because in a pinch, if you have a small hex socket which will cheat and fit the star bolt heads.
I had one, I forgot the size or if it was 6 or 12 pointed.

Well take care!
