Default 94 Factory Service Manual

Hello All,

I just inherited a 94 SL2. I am second owner. My mother in law was original owner. Looking for shop manuals all I am finding is 95 manuals. Was there a change from 94 to 95?

There were changes but not a lot of major ones. It might still be enough to totally screw up wiring diagrams and such though, as the '95 was a somewhat unique year and a blend of Gen 1 for the most part, with Gen 2 interior and a few other changes.

EGR went from vacuum to electric I think, most other major engine related stuff remained the same.

TBH unless the car has some major issues this forum is your best source, often "fixing" misprints in some of the service manuals. These cars are simple for the most part, reliable, and easy to work on.

At this moment the car needs 4 new tires and state inspection. It has always been maintained by Saturn, and GM dealers. I will hold out until I find a 94 set.

Thanks for info.

My 02 SL1 has 276K on clock now still running strong. That's only reason I took mother in laws 94

94 model year was the last year for a "True" first Gen Saturn.

The 95 model year was labeled as Gen 2. 95 model year is a weird year for me; because it has the first gen exterior, with some aspects of 2nd gen on the inside... but a mix of first/second gen on the interior too.

If you are able to get any First Gen Shop Manuals, up to 94... you will be covered for the most part.

I have shop manuals for my 94 Homecoming Edition- but they are 91-93 shop manuals.

When it comes to the first Gen cars- the only two model years that are a bit weird are the 91 model year, and 95 model year.

91- had no upper motor mount, dogbone mount was different, transmission gear ratios are different... among other things.

95- just a mish/mash of first/second gen parts... I like to call it Gen 1.5; because it's such a mess of parts. 95 model year had the first for the composite cover, as well as the electric EGR valve... although I have seen some 95 cars- not sure if they were modded- where they had the aluminum cover and vacuum EGR- (this could have been "California only" cars, but I could be wrong.) Part of the reason why I'm not a fan of the 95 model year was because it was just a mix of everything.
