Default Cone filter dimensions

I'm trying to set up a cheap WAI. If I just want to clamp on the new filter on the stock hose what size does it have to be?

Pretty sure you'll need a 6" length of 2.5" diameter PVC pipe to put the two together. Unless your hardware store is nicer than mine you'll have to buy the whole 10ft length of pipe, so you might as well get a 90 and 45 elbow and another clamp/connector, some PVC waterproof glue and replace all the intake piping. Should still be well under $30 total.

If you don't care for the look of white PVC you can get some steel wool and scuff it up, then paint it with spray paint.

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

You may get it to stretch enough to fit around a 2.5" filter. The stock pipe isn't stiff enough to go on the inside of a filter.

If you look for the K&N set-up (part #57-3012) for S series you will see what the "adapter" between the filter and the intake tube looks like.

A cheap alternative is a E-Bay WAI for anywhere between 35-45 dollars that comes with a cone filter...
